New year, new you, right? Eat cleaner! Work out more! Become a DIY wonder woman who is simultaneously present, mindful and gracious! One scroll on Instagram, and we're inundated with so many #lifegoals that it can be positively overwhelming. So much so that our resolutions can be so lofty that they are unattainable and, ultimately, unfulfilled. This year I'm tackling a series of small resolutions that I can weave to my routine in a more realistic way. Here are three of my resolutions for 2016:
1. Edit. Now is the time to edit your closet and evaluate what you have (and what you need). I'm a classic clothing hoarder. If it fits, I keep it even if I haven't worn it in forever or ever... Apartment living does not take kindly to this habit. If you don't like/haven't worn an item in years/doesn't fit/ is stained, ripped or otherwise damaged, evaluate whether it should be tossed or donated. It's not doing anything just sitting there taking up space. (I'm forcing Mr. C to do this too!) This clears up valuable real estate in your closet so you can take a hard look at your wardrobe. What do you really need? What do you need to stop buying? If your favorite items need some TLC, now is the time. Make your wardrobe work for you!
2. De-clutter. A sub-bullet to the editing process but this time applied to my inbox. If my inbox is organized, my mind is calm. (Am I alone here?) Over the course of the year, I have signed up for a seemingly infinite amount of newsletters. Everyday I'm faced with sales, discounts, reminders, shop nows!, don't forgets and more. Go through these, reduce the frequency of emails or better yet, unsubscribe. Want more news/discounts/reminders later? You can always re-subscribe with no hard feelings. An organized inbox is a happy inbox.
3. Make myself accountable. I'm all about the whole "Be a Better Person" resolution, but this is vague and ultimately not that helpful. This year, I'm holding myself accountable for specific "ways to be better" - working out 2-3x per week, floss daily, blog weekly. Write it done and make it happen!

Friday Finds
I'm not a huge New Year resolution fan, too much pressure! However, I do think the New Year is a great time to hit the refresh button and reflect on the past year and gear up for the one ahead. Here a few things that I'm hoping to incorporate into my routine.
- A Mini Detox - I love Gywneth and am a huge fan of her healthy, yet mindful recipes. Here is her detox-how-to. While I'm not going all in (a girl needs her coffee), I definitely plan on peppering a few of her dishes into my weekly mix. It's all about balance!
- De-clutter - With all that holiday cheer often comes some holiday clutter. After we pack away all our ornaments and attempt to vacuum up all the pine needles (Fact: This is impossible), I want to go through and reorganize our cabinets, drawers, and closets and do a nice healthy purge. Check these out for home inspiration. I'm obsessed with this one and this one.
- Read More Hard News- I'm absolutely guilty of skimming over the harsh global news in flavor of the lighter pieces. I'm going to make an effort to read a few more world happening pieces.
-Get More Involved - For Real. Putting yourself out there, whether volunteering or just trying a new class, is hard. I'm determined to be better at this. First up, this class.
-Run a 5k - To be totally transparent here, I'm not a runner. Don't like it, don't really do it. Ever. But I think local races are so fun to watch; it's such a high just being a part of it! After watching my mom participate in a few triathlons (she's incredible!), I thought it would be fun to do a 5K, my gateway drug to active living. I've rallied my brother and Mr. C to also join to make it a family affair (and help me not back out). Here goes nothing!
Cheers to a happy and healthy 2015!

Beauty Resolutions
I'm not one for resolutions. However, every December I'm inevitably faced with the question, "So, what is your resolution?" Cringe. This year, like most others, it's the same - just be "better" at things - floss more, do more charity, commit to yoga, the usual. Healthy to-dos that often get sidelined when life gets busy. Then I read that model Hilary Rhoda would resolve to drink more water every time it was asked if she wanted something to drink. Genius! I never drink enough water, and if she needs some, I definitely do - resolution conundrum solved! I'm happy to report that as we enter March, this is one thing that I've kept to. I may not be up to the prescribed 8 glasses, but definitely getting better! As for the yoga, well I did watch a video, on a mat, wearing my yoga clothes - that sort of counts, right?
